America Use Your Commonsense About Impeachment

A little bit of commonsense and reason and a lot less hatred for Donald Trump and unbridled emotions will help you come to a sensible conclusion about this impeachment. The President is being impeached for abusing his power and obstructing Congress. The abuse of power charge by Democrats is that Trump withheld aid to the Ukraine in exchange for an investigation into Hunter and Joe Biden. The charge by Democrats is that Trump pressured President Zelensky of Ukraine to dig up dirt on Joe Biden in order to help Trump and hurt Biden during the 2020 presidential election. Democrats make the claim that Trump's pressuring of Zelensky to investigate Biden was seeking foreign interference into the 2020 election. They charge that Trump obstructed Congress by refusing to turn over documents and by refusing to allow certain current and former Trump officials to testify during the impeachment inquiry in the HOR, even though Trump is claiming executive privilege.

The facts are that the military aid to Ukraine was frozen or delayed. It was not permanently denied and importantly, the deadline had not passed for the aid to be sent to Ukraine. If it was so urgent that the aid be sent to Ukraine immediately, why didn't Congress make that stipulation in the bill appropriating the military aid to Ukraine? The answer is that it was not. So here is what the Democrats are selling to the American people about the need to remove Trump immediately from office instead of allowing voters to make that decision in November. Trump needs to be removed from office because he froze or delayed and not denied aid to Ukraine. He pressured Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 election by asking President Zelensky to dig up dirt on Joe and Hunter Biden, and to investigate the Crowdstrike conspiracy that they say is debunked. Keep in mind Ukraine got the aid within the time frame allowed. President Zelensky and other officials from Ukraine have maintained that they were not pressured by Trump to open an investigation  into the Bidens; and in fact, did not open an investigation prior to receiving the military aid. It is also possible that Ukraine did not know about the freeze of the aid.

What this boils down to is that Democrats and their sycophants in the media want to undo an election by overthrowing President Trump for a temporary freeze in military aid to the Ukraine. What I find so troubling and frustrating is that a little over half of Americans have bought into this baseless impeachment apparently because their emotions and hatred for Trump have clouded their ability to think rationally. All Presidents are allowed to have counsel, advisers, and staff personnel to provide them with information and guidance in order to help them come to the best decisions on any issue. To put it another way, they are there to help point a President in the right direction if they steer off course. With the freeze on aid to Ukraine, you can credibly argue that Trump was going in the wrong direction. But the thing here is that this was not the final decision. It was part of the process. What is important is the final outcome. The final outcome is that Ukraine got the military aid within the time allotted without doing an investigation into the Bidens. The President of Ukraine said I was not pressured. It's the final outcome that should matter the most. But not for Democrats and much of the media and many Americans. Trump froze the aid, and Democrats and many others want to jump to the conclusion that the freeze was tied to an investigation of the Bidens for the purpose of interfering in the 2020 election. Even if you want to believe that that is true, the final decision is that the right thing was done. Apparently, a member or members of the Trump administration were able to point the President in the right direction resulting in the freeze being lifted on the aid to Ukraine. The process worked. The question is do we really want to set a precedent for impeachment that is low and irrational based on Democrats' thirst for revenge for losing the 2016 election?

Furthermore, no one should believe Democrats when they say that they are protecting the Constitution and democracy; and that no one is above the law. The impeachment itself is a violation of the Constitution because the articles of impeachment are constitutionally infirm. It is Democrats that have abused their power with this baseless impeachment. When Barack Obama, the former Democratic President, usurped the power of Congress with DACA, giving de facto citizenship to undocumented immigrants, Democrats were overwhelmed with joy. This was a clear violation of the separation of powers doctrine of the Constitution which authorizes Congress to make immigration law and not the President. Why didn't Democrats express any regard for the Constitution at that time? If they believe that no one is above the law, why do they support and encourage illegal immigration?

Making news today is all of this talk about a statement in John Bolton's upcoming book alleging that Trump told him the aid to Ukraine was tied to an investigation of the Bidens. The media is having a field day over this revelation. This is no bombshell that should change anything about this impeachment. Democrats are using this latest news to call for Bolton to testify and has already stated that this unverified claim alleged in Bolton's book is the truth. These are the same Democrats that are giving no credibility to the statements from President Zelensky's very own mouth that he did not feel pressure to investigate the Bidens. Again, it's the final outcome that should be the focus of this impeachment. Ukraine got the aid within the allotted time without conducting an investigation into the Bidens. Simply put, there are no impeachable offenses from Trump's conduct relative to this impeachment matter. A temporary freeze of military aid should not under the circumstances outlined by Democrats result in Trump, or any President for that matter, being removed from office.
